DAYEVYNN CELESTINO IN PRACTICE

Dayevynn Celestino Chanslor, born in 2000, is changing the landscape of what it means to create through painting, photography, and more.  They are a lifelong student of the arts despite having no formal education in any specific fine art discipline.

The art Dayevynn creates is an exploratory look into how they perceive reality, gender identity, and sexuality.   Dayevynn identifies as nonbinary and likes to appropriate the idea of masculinity and femininity to create a confusing mess of expression.  This relates to their sexuality as they also identify as a lesbian, complicated by the relationship with their gender.  You can see these themes in their art through the warping of reality, whether it's abstract, warped faces, or warped bodies of the figure traditionally considered to be that of a woman.

In future creative endeavors, Dayevynn hopes to foster a sense of belonging to those who experience similar things to them in terms of reality and identity.  Breaking the confines of the canvas to bring art to an underserved community.
